Getting to Koh Phangan is easier than you think. Here’s a breakdown of the most popular routes.
From Bangkok
The most common route is a flight to Surat Thani (URT) followed by a ferry. Budget airlines like AirAsia and Nok Air fly this route daily. Total journey: about 6-8 hours including the ferry.
Alternatively, you can take a night bus or train to Surat Thani and catch a morning ferry. This is the budget option and a classic backpacker experience.
From Koh Samui
Multiple ferry companies run between Koh Samui and Koh Phangan throughout the day. The crossing takes 30-60 minutes depending on the ferry type.
From Koh Tao
Ferries run daily between Koh Tao and Koh Phangan (1.5-2 hours). Many travelers do the classic “island trio” — Koh Tao, Koh Phangan, Koh Samui.
Getting to Eclipse
From Thong Sala Pier (main pier), it’s a 15-25 minute drive through the mountains to Haad Rin, depending on your transport. From Haad Rin Pier, we’re just a 5-minute walk. Songthaews (shared taxis) run regularly, or we can arrange a pickup for you.
Once you’ve arrived, you’ll want to figure out where to stay in Koh Phangan and how to get around. Many travelers opt for a motorbike rental — it’s the easiest way to explore the island at your own pace.
